V BIENNIAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY
ON INDUSTRY AND WORK

Bologna 14.10 – 28.11.2021

Thank you for over 140,000 visits!

FOOD

FOTO / INDUSTRIA 2021

For 2021, Foto/Industria, the most important biennial in the world dedicated to the photography on Industry and Work, offers the public 11 exhibitions: 10 hosted in historic locations in the city center and one at MAST.

At the heart of Foto/Industria 2021 is the food industry, a theme of fundamental importance due to its inextricable link to wider questions of philosophy and biology, history and science, politics and economics. Our primary need for food overlaps here with that of images. It is a journey that develops as part of a timeless, yet highly topical subject, given the rapid developments in a sector currently responding to the most important global transformations: demographics, climate change and sustainability. Through the filter of photography, “the mirror with a memory”, food bears witness to an era and a civilization, capable of narrating its relationship with tradition, nature, technology, the past, the future and much more.
The MAST Foundation has entrusted the artistic direction to Francesco Zanot to carry on with the project of the Biennial that François Hébel started in 2013.

With Foto/Industria 2021, the MAST Foundation renews its commitment to involving the city and the community in this cultural project, which through the narrative power of images, allows us to multiply our views of the world.
